The idea of regulating "AI" is like regulating "databases" -- it is at the wrong place in the technology stack. We have regulations and laws around all the topics mentioned in the above story. That's where to start. For example, it has been illegal to discriminate in housing, race profile in mortgages, do harm with new drugs, and so on long before computers were even used.

I like the idea of an international panel to clarify and demystify AI, especially given differing ideas on morals and ethics, but hear on how information should be garnered to regulate.
